An opportunity has arisen for a Carpenter – Fire Safety Work – To carry out building repairs, maintenance and renewals ranging from emergency and other routine reactive repairs on numerous sites daily to single-site programmed repairs and refurbishment work in occupied and void housing properties and other premises following best trade practice and to current standards and regulations:

Responsibilities
To carry out works to a consistently high standard of quality and customer satisfaction and complete works ‘Right First Time’. Hours of work will be between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm (Monday – Friday), and 8.00 am and 1.00 pm (Saturday) as directed by management. The post-holder is required to work flexibly to support service delivery between these hours which may include changes to working times/patterns to deliver an effective service:

Qualification – Essential

GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry or Level 1 Award in Basic Construction Skills
Level 1 Award in Wood Operations or Level 1/2 (NVQ) Certificate / Diploma in Wood Occupations or
Level 1/2 Certificate / Diploma in Construction Crafts (carpentry and joinery)
Full driving licence and must have own power tools
Intermediate Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Social Media
To apply for this position candidates MUST possess the following skills and experience
Able to demonstrate experience in undertaking works to upgrade doors and existing frames with Fire Safety
Recent experience of fitting new door, frames and door sets following current guidance relating to fire safety
Must be able to work independently and unsupervised
Ability to follow technical drawings and plans
Able to carry out works to a consistently high standard of quality and customer satisfaction and complete works ‘Right First Time.’
Experience of cutting and shaping timber for floorboards, skirting boards and window frames
Able to installing skirting boards, door surrounds, doors, cupboards and shelving, as well as door handles and locks (second fixings)
Must be able to work between the core hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm (Monday – Friday) and 8.00 am and 1.00 pm (Saturday) as directed by management.
Must have an eye for detail
Must have good maths skills for measuring and working out angles
Must have a reasonable level of fitness
Must have an awareness of health and safety.
Experience of making and assembling doors, window frames, staircases and fitted furniture
Experience of fitting wooden structures, like floor and roof joists, roof timbers, staircases, partition walls, and door and window frames (first fixings)
Experience of making and fitting interiors for public housing.
Able to provide Five Years of references – essential
Enhanced DBS on the update system – essential
