Our local authority client in Shropshire is recruiting a Highway Works Programmer. To provide guidance and assistance on the one, three, and 5-year highway works programme; working with managers in identifying potential clashes of network occupancy or collaborative working opportunities within the programme. This post will be responsible for the Permit applications submitted in regards to works for road purposes and any following Highway restrictions arisen from this.

Responsibilities:
To be responsible for the Permit applications submitted in regards to works for road purposes and any following Highway restrictions arisen from this. To lead and contribute to a range of projects and build relations with both internal and external partners to achieve specified outcomes:

Qualification – Essential

GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
Degree in a highway, street works, construction field or Qualified as a Street Works Supervisor;
Or relevant experience
Advanced – Microsoft; Word, PowerPoint, – Excel & Outlook
Skills, Abilities & Experience – Essential

Extensive working knowledge of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991
Able to demonstrate significant experience working within a Highway, Engineering or street works role
Experience working within a Street / Engineering environment
Experience of working with Contractors
Ability to work with internal teams to deliver and implement new and updated working practices
Ability to develop and nurture working relationships with relevant stakeholders
Ability to negotiate with all stakeholders at all levels
Ability to consistently achieve set targets
Proven ability to manage workload in high demand and time-sensitive environment
Able to present consistently report in a clear, concise manner to Senior Managers
Ability to create and manage a project plan to achieve the desired outcome
Experience of directing and assisting other teams in regards to network management, road space booking and traffic management.
Good written skills to be able to prepare reports and other necessary documents
Able to provide Three Years of references – essential
