Our Client in North West London is recruiting Careers Adviser – To deliver Career Advice and Guidance to students in a vibrant and diverse secondary school. The post may include organisation and delivery of careers events and college visits. The position requires a Level 6/7 Careers Guidance qualification, and excellent knowledge of the current education landscape and post 16 pathways for both academic and vocational routes to employment:

Responsibilities:
To deliver Careers Information, Advice and Guidance within a variety of settings including schools and colleges, special schools, support and health services or within the Community. Careers Advisers may be required work from years 7 – 14 following the requirements of the schools.

Qualification – Essential

GCSE/O Level, 5 GCSE’S including English & maths
Level 6/7 Careers Qualification – Requirement to deliver careers guidance in Schools/College
Advanced –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Adobe, Outlook and Social Media
Skills, Abilities & Experience – Essential

Good understanding of young people’s development, the purpose and methods of social and informal education including CEIAG, Substance misuse, Youth offending etc
Good knowledge of current labour market information nationally, pan London and local
Strong understanding of the education system, curriculum, key stages, and structures for learner and learning support
Good knowledge of the factors that limit educational and personal achievement for young people
An understanding of current trends and policies influencing young people’s services and integrated working within a multi-agency framework.
Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and Youth Justice Principles
Good awareness of community organisations and statutory institutions that can provide support to young people and their families
Proven ability in engaging with young people, setting and maintaining clear boundaries, building relationships and positively influencing change
The ability to facilitate the personal and social development of young people through advice, support, motivation, leadership and advocacy and programme of activities
Ability to analyse information from a range of sources to identify the needs of young people
Ability to take responsibility for own planning work, consistently achieving and delivering to time, and quality despite tight timescales and conflicting priorities’
Experience of working with children, adolescents and their families within a diverse community
DBS REQUIRED: Enhanced barred lists children & Adults
