We are looking for a SEN Caseworker Assistant; to assist the Education Officers, in the co-ordination of the statutory assessment process for pupils with SEND, ensuring that they are supported in mainstream environments wherever possible, following the appropriate SEN Code of Practice 2015, the SEND Strategy and the graduated approach to meeting SEN requirements:

Responsibilities:
To work within all statutory timescales relevant to each stage of the regulatory assessment process, and to assist the Education Officers in the drafting of EHC plans, ensuring that they contain SMART outcomes and are written in clear and concise language:

Qualification – Essential

GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
NVQ Level 3, BTEC or equivalent experience in a related role
Some evidence of continuing professional development is desirable
Advanced – Microsoft; Word, PowerPoint, – Excel, Outlook & social Media
Essential – Skills, Abilities & Experience
Experience of working in local government, education settings or the voluntary sector with individual, groups and organisations
Recent experience of the EHC process, including assisting Casework Officers in the drafting of EHC plans, attending annual reviews and pupil placement would be a considerable advantage
Experience of working as part of a team, or teams, including multi-agency teams
Experience of working with parents and carers
Knowledge of all aspects of the Children and Families Act 2014 and all associated legislation including SENDIST regulations
Ability to understand and communicate complex information relating to the children and young people’s special educational needs
High level of communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work using own initiative
Ability to work to tight timescales and deadlines
Ability to work as part of a team
An ability to work under pressure
High-level presentation and interpersonal skills
A positive attitude towards personal training and development
