We are looking for a Research Information and Systems Manager to provide strategic development and operational management research information and management systems for a client in Surrey:

To be responsible for the forthcoming Research Management System (RMS), the Ethics system; Research Professional and REF-related systems working with and coordinating the work of relevant colleagues in Professional Services, e.g. IT, Library Services, HR and Finance. The post holder is also responsible for the provision of expert guidance during the scoping, procurement and implementation of new research systems and the provision of management information to the College Executive, Heads of School and Directors of Research via the extraction of data and the delivery of reports from the systems.

Qualification – Essential

GCSE Grade A-C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Relevant postgraduate or professional qualifications
Advanced ECDL –Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Adobe, Outlook and Social Media
Skills, Abilities & Experience – Essential

A good understanding of current challenges in the HE environment including research funding
The ability to initiate and prioritise own work and coordinate the work of others to meet challenging deadlines
Proven ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to initiate and maintain internal and external networks
Proven experience of developing effective relationships and liaising confidently with internal and external contacts at all levels of seniority
Ability to solve problems and identify novel solutions
Demonstrable service-led, customer focussed approach to work
Experience of Pure or a similar CRIS or a Research Grant Management System, as a back-office administrator, system administrator or superuser.
Experience delivering system upgrades from a business perspective and the analysis of release notes
Working knowledge of the REF and experience of a submission from a systems perspective
Experience of working with academic staff in professional services, support or administrative capacity
Advanced IT literate with a high level of proficiency in Excel or similar tools to supply, extract and manage data.
Experience of designing and delivering support and training materials in differing formats to a variety of users/audiences.
Excellent understanding of data protection and experience of working within the legislation
Willing to travel occasionally to group meetings
Enhanced CRB/DBS; on the disclosure & barring service update system
Able to provide Five Years of references – essential
